6.5 OLED

In case you’ve been living under a rock, there’s big news in the smartphone world: Apple recently unveiled the new iPhone XS Max. Why is this a big deal? Well, some would say that the new handset is actually the most advanced smartphone ever created. Others would say, that this represents one of the most advanced cameras ever created. Both of these are correct.

The 6.5-inch OLED panel is the cherry on top of the superior features and offers what Apple calls a “Super Retina Display”. What that means, in layman’s terms, is that this handset’s display features a contrast ratio of 1 million to 1, has an all 2688 by 1242 resolution of 458 pixels per inch (PPI), and supports HDR 10 and also Dolby vision. The sharp OLED display for the phone comfortably displays next generation 4k video content and accounts for its perfect brightness and color generation. It also incorporates a curved design on its notch and edges giving it a stylish design with superior hand-feel. We’re not kidding when we say that this gorgeous wide color display offers the world’s premiere gaming and video-watching experience on a smartphone. Period.

iPhone XS Max 3D touch features are also very impressive with a 120Hz touch sensor and incorporates functions like true tone display tech and tap to wake. These are the standard features for both the 5.8 and 6.6 inches 1Phone XS the display size being the major contrast between the two versions. The XS Max from Apple is clearly setting the standard for future smartphones with a keen focus on offering the most cutting edge technology. Futuristic modifications included in the design entail an A 12 Bionic image signal processor (ISP) which is exclusive this device, a Neural Engine of 8 core specification, and a much improved version of  Face ID that identifies you nearly instantly.

These additions make this iPhone much faster and responsive than all previous versions. This is most easily seen when you are switching between applications. What’s more, the Max boldly stands to have the largest display and biggest battery among all other iPhone versions ever released to the market. The larger battery can actually power your device for one hour and thirty minutes longer when compared to previous iPhone versions. This is a significant leap for Apple considering the fact that in the last decade they’ve focused almost exclusively on making their devices thinner rather than providing additional battery life. Could this be a sign of a renewed focus on battery life? Only time can tell.

The iPhone XS’ additional features include an increased storage of 64, 256 and 512 GB giving you adequate space for all your necessities. In terms of the camera, this device has increased dynamic range which maintains its picture quality even in low light setups. The camera also has advanced optics with an elaborate sensor that’s 30% larger, meaning it takes in more light. Additionally, the dual camera design that applies smart HDR as well as dynamic field depth especially for pictures taken in portrait. If all of that weren’t enough, this is Apple’s first computational photography camera, meaning that it can dynamically allow you to change the focus of your photos without having to take another one in additional to a number of other features.

The crystal camera lens is made entirely of sapphire, a testament to the quality and craftsmanship that’s gone into it. The video recording aspects of the camera are also diverse with 24, 30 and 60 fps 4k recording capabilities. It even has image stabilization!

Breaking down the lifespan of the battery, you will get 13 hours of usage for active internet, 15 hours when watching videos, 65 hours when listening to music offline and 25 hours for active talk time. Like the modern Apple versions, it also comes with the fast charging option, which allows you to go from 0 to 50 percent battery levels within 30 minutes when using a compatible charger. Also worth noting is the fact that the XS Max is a dual SIM device with a nano SIM slot and an eSIM slot.

In terms of ‘looks’, you’ll be able to choose choose from silver, gold and space grey finishes. As you’d expect, the default operating system for this device is iOS 12, which includes new ‘grouped’ notifications, expanded Animoji options (complete with tongue and wink detection!), a much more intelligent personal assistant in Siri, and group Face Time.
