1 Billion Instagram Downloads On Android?
Instagram came to fruition in what I like to think of as the “Golden Age Of Apps”. I hope that name catches on, it took me forever to think of that. It was a time when apps like Snapchat were just getting very popular. Well, the major photography app has just hit a pretty big milestone. How big of a milestone? Well, did you read the title of this article? Then you know already. So let’s move on.
What Is Instagram?
I remember somebody once described Instagram to me as Twitter, but with pictures instead of words. Or did they describe it as Snapchat but with no videos but more pictures of people’s meals? I can’t remember. Anyways, Instagram quickly gained popularity due to its many filters and celebrity use. Also it’s owned by a little-known company named Facebook. Whoever they are.
So What Happened?
As mentioned, Instagram has officially hit a billion downloads on Android. Clearly, that number is nothing to sneeze at. In fact, why would you sneeze at anything at all? That seems pretty rude to me. I’m getting off topic again, aren’t I? This is great news for any Instagram user, as its popularity likely means more attention and more work to make it an even better app. I’m not the CEO of Instagram or anything, I’m just assuming.
Something Interesting…
What’s pretty fascinating is that Instagram’s not even the only Android app owned by Facebook to hit such a landmark. In fact, there have been three others to hit the huge number: WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and the core Facebook app. So this “Facebook” seems to be doing pretty well for itself. It will be interesting to see if this leads to Facebook creating more apps in the future. Maybe an app that allows you to use Google to map wherever you’d like to go. Just throwing out ideas here.
