Have you taken backup of your important files yet? If you haven’t then you should take the time to do it. Because it is one of the most essential things you can do to protect your important data.
Once you have taken the backup, you won’t have to worry about losing your data again. In this post, we will tell you how to take backup of your files and data for free and with ease.
So, here we go…
Ship them to the Cloud
Backing up your important documents and files to the cloud is the best way out there. That way, you can be sure that your files are safe whatever happens to your smartphone or computer.
There are a number of cloud storage platform which can be used to store your files. Some of them are free and others are paid. If you have an Android device, then you must have one or more Google Accounts. And fortunately, with every Google Account, you are getting 15 GB of Cloud storage for free.
You can add more storage by paying a few bucks per month to Google. However, for most of us, 15 GB is more than enough. Also, you can create another Google account and get another 15 GB for free. The good thing about Google Drive is that it can sort out different types of files so easily. So, you can search by the format of the file and you will find them in an instant.
If you are not a fan of Google Drive, there are more options out there for you. For instance, you can use Dropbox, Box, MEGA, Amazon Cloud etc. All of these platforms offer different pricing and plans. So, get the one you like the most.
What about Photos and Music?
Generally, you can upload all of your photos and Music to any one of the cloud storage platform discussed above. But, you can also use other Photo and Music related apps to back up those.
For example, you can use the ‘Google Photos’ app to backup photos. You know what’s the best thing about Google Photos? They are offering unlimited storage for your photos and videos. There’s just a little caveat here though. If you are not limiting the resolution of your photos to 16 MP and videos to 1080p then it will count against your Google Drive quota.
And, for storing Music, you can turn to Spotify, Google Music etc. However, Spotify has a little edge over Google Music here. It comes with more features and the collection of songs on Spotify is huge. So, you can easily use one or the other to back up your songs.
Storing Passwords
Why does anyone need to backup passwords, right? Unfortunately, with the increase of online services, we need to remember a hefty number of passwords. So, most of us use one password for multiple online services. You should never do that. Because it's easier to get hacked that way.
So, to make sure you remember each one of your (distinct) passwords, you can take advantage of Password Managers. There are a lot of them available such as 1Password, LastPass, DashLane, KeePass etc. Some of them are paid and others are free of cost. Whichever you use, remember to use one with a good reputation. Oh, and use a strong Master Password.
App Settings
It’s normal that you will have many apps installed on your android phone. Nowadays, almost all of the Android app offers a backup system. And, most of them provide the option to backup it to your Google account.
You can take backup of your app settings from within the app. There will be some sorts of settings to perform this action on each of these apps. So, don't forget to take backup on a regular basis. That way, it won’t matter if you have lost your phone or got a new phone. You can always install those apps and restore the settings anytime.
Last Words
So, what are you waiting for? If you haven’t taken the backup, go and take the backup by following the methods we have discussed above. If you want to be worry-free about losing your data, this is the only thing you can do which will be worthwhile.
