The Apple HomePod is one of the most interesting products thatโs come from Cupertino. When looking at the HomePod, it has a feel that itโs an advanced and updated version of the iPod Hi-fi which was launched a while ago. However, the HomePod has experienced its fair share of issues over the recent months. One of the issues being that able to ask Siri to play specific playlists of artists. Now, the feature itself is a great idea and makes life a little easier than having to swipe through lists of songs.
However, many users of the HomePos have found that Siri will acts as though it has no understanding of what youโre asking it. For example, youโll ask Siri to play a certain song and itโll reply with โCannot find playlist xxx in your music.โ Now, weโre going to look at a couple different ways to work through and fix this issue.
Subscribe to Apple Music
ย
This is the first and easiest fix when it comes to this issue. Apple has made it very easy for users to use Siri on your iPhone or other Apple device to play music with the use of Apple Music. However, if youโre not subscribed to Apple Music, you may have some problems with it as the iCloud Music Library must be active in order for this to work.
Now, Apple Music doesnโt state that you need to have a subscription, however, if youโre running into some bugs, having a subscription will solve this problem. If you choose to subscribe, Apple will give you a three-month subscription for free.
Remove HomePod from your iCloud
Your next option if you prefer not to follow through with the first if to remove HomePod from your iCloud. This is very basic, yet effective method and requires you to simply remove and then re-add your HomePod to your iCloud.
1. Open the Home app
2. Find your HomePod
3. Press and hold HomePod
4. Tap on Details
5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap on Recovery Accessory
ย
What this will do is remove the HomePod from your iCloud account. Once thatโs completed, youโll be able to set up the HomePod again, just as if youโd be setting it up for the first time.
How to reset your HomePod
ย
Now that youโve removed the HomePod from your iCloud account, this will reset the speaker. However, there is another method that you can use to reset the HomePod without having to mess around with Appleโs Home app.
If youโre looking to reset the HomePod from the speaker itself, then you should follow the steps below:
1. You need to unplug the HomePod
2. Then, wait 5 seconds before plugging it back in
3. Once you plug it in, wait another 5 seconds and then youโre going to touch the top of the HomePod and hold it
4. The spinning light will turn red and youโre going to keep your finger there
5. Then, Siri will activate and say that the HomePod is about to reset itself.
6. Youโll then hear three beeps. After the third beep, youโll be able to lift your finger.
This will reset your HomePod to factory settings which means itโs going to act the same as if it was brand new. Any settings you placed in your HomePod will be removed.
Disable โHeyโ Siri
ย
Since Siri is actually not acting properly, thereโs a chance that the problem is actually with Siri. If thatโs the case, then you should disable the โHey Siriโ command on your device.
You can do this in two different ways. The first method is that you can simply say โHey Siri, disable โHey Siriโ. This should work, though if not, thereโs a second option.
The next method requires that you use the Home app on your iPad or iPhone. You need to open the app, tap and hold the HomePod which will open the Details panel. Then, youโll need to toggle โHey Siriโ from the menu.
Sadly, Apple hasnโt really worked out this issue. However, if you try one of these methods, it should work.
