Put the iPhone X, iPhone 8, & iPhone 8 Plus into DFU Mode in ITunes
Appleโs been working hard on making their phones without a home screen button. Finally, through the release of the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, Apple made a full transition away from the home screen thatโs been a feature on their iPhones for years. Though this is a huge feat for Apple, it also presents itself with some problems.
You may be thinking, โHey, but iPhone 8 and 8 Plus still have home buttons,โ and youโre completely right. Though, just like the iPhone 7 they serve no function when your device itself turned off as theyโre โcapacitiveโ. So, what happens when you want to put your iPhone into DFU mode? Well, itโs still possible, however, it simply means youโre going to have to use a different method in order to enter DFU mode.
For those of you wondering just what DFU mode is, DFU mode is short for Device Firmware Upgrade mode. In laymanโs terms, it means that this mode is used to restore your iPhone if itโs unresponsive. Essentially, it restores your iPhone back to factory settings. Of course, this isnโt something youโre going to have to commonly use, however, when you need to use it, youโll want to know what youโre going to have to do if your phone becomes bricked or glitchy.
Before we tell you how to activate DFU mode, youโll need to know that when you restore an iOS device, youโll be wiping your iPhone completely clean. Thus, you need to make sure that your data on your iPhone is backed. With that being said, letโs move onto teaching you how to put your iPhone into DFU mode.

Then itโll continue to restore it back to factory settings by selecting โRestore iPhoneโ which will be found under iPhone Recovery Mode on your iTunes. Then, once it's fully restored, your iPhone will automatically exit itself out of DFU mode and will open its activation screen.
