Scribd iOS Review

These days, everybody wants to have the “Netflix” of something. You know, something where you pay a monthly subscription and get access to a large collection of something. There’s a Netflix for audiobooks. There’s a Netflix for music. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a Netflix for clothes. But wouldn’t that mean you have to return the clothes at the end? Anyways, let’s take a look at Scribd, which is the “Netflix of books”. And maybe even more. That was a teaser for something I‘m going to reveal in the next section.

What Is Scribd?

Like I said, Scribd is the “Netflix” of books. You pay a monthly fee and are granted access to a large amount of books. But wait, there’s more! Along with a pretty substantial book collection, you are also granted access to audio books, comic books, and even sheet music. So hypothetically, you could read a Superman comic while listening to an audiobook about the creation of Superman while playing the Goldfinger song “Superman” on piano. OK, I need to sit down for a second. I think that just overloaded my brain.

How Is It?

Just by taking a look around, I was very impressed by the amount of selections available. In the books alone, there are options that are generally very expensive or always checked out at the library. (I hope you’re reading this, person that always checks out Amy Poehler’s book at the library before I do. Give the rest of us a chance to read it!) Outside of that, the other selections were very substantial. From Spider-Man to the Avengers and more, you can spend hours reading up on costumed superheroes pummeling each other. And if you’re more of a listener, there are plenty of audiobooks available, including audio versions of many of the books available on the app.

Should You Get It?

Scribd is definitely worth trying out. Like many subscriptions, you can try it out for free for your first month, meaning there’s no excuse not to give it a shot. Plus, you can tell people you use the “Netflix of books”. That’ll make you feel smarter than your friends in a matter of seconds.
