CastBox Android Review
I have made it no secret that I’m a huge fan of podcasts. Between pop culture podcasts like 90s Percentile and trivia podcasts like Good Job, Brain, I’ve got no shortage of episodes to listen to. There’s something so soothing about sitting around and listening to other people talk. Plus it helps me to expand my own vocabulary. Especially with words like this: luminary. I don’t know what it means, but at least I know how to type it. Anyways, let’s take a look at a podcasting app today. Otherwise this intro would make absolutely no sense. Let’s take a look at the CastBox app for Android devices.
What Is CastBox?
Much like Stitcher or PodBay, CastBox is a simple way to listen to podcasts on your mobile device. You can browse around categories or search for a particular podcast to find just what you’re looking for. And subscribe. Y’know, all the basic podcasting stuff.
How Is The App?
The CastBox app definitely has a lot of big names on it. From the many NPR podcasts to the extremely popular Nerdist selections, you can find yourself listening for hours. However, there’s only one small problem with the app: it doesn’t exactly bring anything new to the table. Most of the available apps I could simply find on Google Play if I needed to. The one thing I did like was the separation of different podcast networks. But that’s pretty much it.
The Bottom Line
CastBox is definitely a good app for finding podcasts. However, the application simply doesn’t have much original to offer. It may have a large collection of podcasts but it brings very little new to the table. And, considering I don’t have much room on my phone as it is, I simply don’t have room for another app when I can already stream podcasts from Google Play Music.
