Combo Quest iOS Review

In the world of app gaming, it’s not too often that you run into many things that are refreshingly original. That isn’t to say that there aren’t mobile games that are original, it’s simply nice to see lesser known games have elements that are fresh and new. Where am I going with all of this? Well, I’m trying to write a review for Combo Quest for iOS devices for your information.

1

The Basics

I can honestly say I haven’t seen too many great RPG’s on mobile devices. Many of them are simply too similar to classic RPG’s like Final Fantasy, which I’m not very good at. I mean, have you ever played one of those games?! There’s so many quests and people to talk to and adventuring and figuring things out and it hurts my head just to think about it. But what if they could just take out all of that and leave the battling part? I would be a big fan. And that's what Combo Quest does. Which is nice.

The Gameplay

Like I said, Combo Quest is all about the battles. In fact, it’s the only thing you really do in this game. Now, in any other game that might get boring pretty quickly. Well, that is definitely not the case here. You see, there is a small meter at the bottom of the screen with a moving line. You must tap the screen when the line has lined up ( does that sound redundant?) with the different colored squares, representing attacking and defending. Trust me, it’s much easier to understand when you’ve actually played it.

Is It Fun?

Combo Quest offers one of my favorite battle systems I’ve seen on a mobile game so far. It almost acts as a rhythm game, as you have to line everything up and tap accordingly. The graphics were also very charming, combining retro and modern looks without appearing too generic. So yeah. I had fun. On to the conclusion.

The Bottom Line

Like I said, it’s great to see something refreshing in the wide world of mobile games. It’s easy to get caught in a rabbit hole of Candy Crushes and endless runners, meaning you can get starved for originality. Well, Combo Quest is the perfect way to try out something new and refreshing. And it’s free. Meaning you have no excuses not to play it. Unless you just don’t like having fun. In which case I’m not sure what to tell you.
