It doesn’t happen every day, but there are some instances where you might need to record a call. It may be for legal purposes or it could just be that you would like to have a record of the call for whatever reason. Now, though it sounds easy, you should know that it’s actually quite difficult to record a call as Android does not have the built-in tools to do so, or the apps that are available do not have clear audio which is important when recording a call. Though, this doesn’t mean it’s impossible to record a call. We should tell you that you should check your state’s laws on recording a call, however, it’s usually legal if both parties consent to the recording which you will want to be recorded with the call. In any case, we recommend you double check.  Here are some of the best ways to record a call.

Google Voice

Since you’re using Android, Google Voice is one of the easiest ways to record a call. It allows you to record your calls for free, however, only incoming calls. In order to do this, you’ll need to have a Google Voice account. Once you set up your account, here’s how you enable recording on your account.

• Go to the Google Voice homepage
• On the upper-right hand corner of the screen, you’ll see a gear icon, click on it and select settings from the drop-down menu.
• Once you’re in settings, you’ll want to find the calls There, you’ll want to check the box which is titled enable recording. You’ll find this close to the bottom of the page.

Once this is complete, you’ll be able to record incoming calls by pressing the “4” button on your keypad.  When you hit “4”, the person on the other line will receive a voice message announcing that the conversation is being recorded. To stop recording, press “4” again. It’ll stop the recording and automatically save the conversation.

If you want to access the saved conversation, go to Google Voice, click on menu and then click recorded.

Third-Party Apps

There are a variety of apps available that’ll record your calls. Before you continue reading, it’s important to know that these apps rely on your microphone to record an incoming or outgoing call. This means you’ll want to record these conversations while being on speakerphone. Now, let’s show you the best third-party apps to use in order to record a phone call.

Call Recorder – ACR

This is the number one call recording app available for Android users. Now, there’s a free version available and of course, a premium version which allows you to special features and no ads. The interface is simple and easy to use. Calls are recorded based on the phone number, however, you have complete control over which calls you want to be recorded, saved and deleted.

Automatic Call Recorder Pro

This is one of the best app available for call recording. The interface is extremely easy to use and it also works well. You’ll be able to customize your settings, changing the audio levels and setting up how it will record a call. This app also has a “shake to record” feature which allows you to record a call just by shaking your phone. You can set up this app to save your recorded calls to Dropbox or Google Drive.

Handheld Recorder

Now, if you’re not able to use Google Voice or a third-party app, then we suggest using a handheld recorder. It’s more expensive than using an app, however, it gets the job done.
