Viki Is Now On iOS

Move over, Siri, because Viki is coming. Well, actually, don’t move over because Viki and Siri do completely different things. Sorry if I insulted you, ma’am. Or sir if you’ve changed your Siri to a man. I’m getting a bit off topic here. The point is, a brand new app called Viki is now on iOS. What does it do, is it worth paying for, and why am I running this sentence on for so long? These and many more answers will be provided if you read on.

1

What Is Viki?

Viki is a new “reader” app for iOS. Now, at first glance, I thought this meant a virtual assistant named Viki would read you different articles from Wikipedia. However, that’s apparently not exactly how it works. How was I to know? Instead, Viki presents all the knowledge of Wikipedia in an easy-to-read fashion. Not only will everything look a bit more interesting, the app allows you to research Wikipedia articles on nearby places.

Is It Worth It?

From the outside looking in, it’s a bit tough to know if Viki is worth it. On the one hand, I can understand why people would want to look at their Wikipedia articles in a different way, as the standard appearance of Wikipedia can be a bit on the boring side. However, what seems very interesting is the option to use your location to find relevant articles on the things around you. I could see myself using it, silently reading something, and trying to impress the people around me with my newfound knowledge.

Should You Get It?

If you find yourself using Wikipedia frequently and want a fresh coat of paint, Viki may be worth it for you. However, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. It does cost money. Wait, don’t go! It’s not too costly, but you will have to shell out for the new app. Overall, if you believe the benefits outweigh the fact that you’ll have to pay, I’d say it’s worth it for you.
